WhatsApp Business API Providers in India: How to Choose (2026)

WhatsApp Business API providers in India: how to choose

Short answer: every WhatsApp Business API provider in India sends through the same Meta platform, pays the same Meta message rates and starts with the same messaging limits. What differs is everything around the API: whether you can keep your existing WhatsApp Business app number (coexistence), which other channels sit in the same product, how good the team inbox and automation are, which tools it connects to, and how Meta’s charges are billed to you. For a mid-size Indian team, pick the provider whose product matches how your team works, not the one with the longest feature list.

This guide is for marketing, CX and sales leads at Indian companies with roughly 50 to 500 staff and 10,000 or more customer contacts, choosing a provider for the first time or replacing one. It compares nine providers plus Meta’s own Cloud API, using what each says on its own website (checked 27 October 2026). We make CampaignHQ, so we’ve listed ourselves too, and kept every row to facts you can check.

What a WhatsApp Business API provider actually does

The WhatsApp Business API (officially the WhatsApp Business Platform, now run on Meta’s Cloud API) has no app of its own. You need software on top of it to send campaigns, reply to customers and automate messages. Meta offers two routes:

  • Through a provider. Meta calls them Solution Partners and Tech Providers. A Solution Partner is a Meta Business Partner that can offer the full platform and bill you for Meta’s charges. A Tech Provider offers the same platform, but you pay Meta directly. See Meta’s overview of solution providers.
  • Directly. A business can build its own app on the Cloud API without a provider. You then build the inbox, campaign tools, automation and reporting yourself.

Most Indian mid-size teams use a provider, because the software is the part their team touches every day. The rest of this guide compares providers on that software.

What’s the same at every provider

  • Meta’s message charges. Meta charges per delivered message, based on the template category (marketing, utility or authentication) and the recipient’s country. Providers either pass these through or add a markup; ask which. Details: Meta’s pricing documentation and our India pricing guide.
  • Messaging limits. A new business portfolio can start conversations with 250 unique customers in a rolling 24 hours, rising through 2,000, 10,000 and 100,000 to unlimited as you send good-quality messages. No provider can skip these messaging limits.
  • Template approval and rules. Meta approves every template and enforces the same opt-in and quality rules everywhere. A provider can make approval faster to submit, not easier to pass. See how long template approval takes.
  • The green tick. Meta decides verification, whichever provider you use. See how verification works in India.

So if a provider promises cheaper Meta rates, higher limits on day one or guaranteed approvals, treat that as a warning sign.

Changes in 2026 that affect your choice

Meta changes rates only at the start of a quarter, and the 1 October 2026 change matters for teams that handle a lot of customer replies:

  • Service messages (your replies inside the 24-hour customer service window) are free for the first 1,000 per business phone number each month, and charged after that.
  • Utility messages sent in an open customer service window are no longer free.
  • Click-to-WhatsApp ads still open a free entry point window of up to 7 days for messages to that customer.

Eight questions to ask any provider

1. Can we keep our current WhatsApp Business app number?

With Meta’s coexistence, the same number can run on the WhatsApp Business app and the API at once, so your team keeps replying from the phone while campaigns and bots run on the API. Meta sets the limits: the app needs to be on version 2.24.17 or later, contact and chat history sync once during onboarding, throughput is fixed at 20 messages per second, group chats don’t sync, and broadcast lists in the app become read-only (Meta’s coexistence guide). Meta’s guide describes this as an onboarding flow run by Solution Partners and Tech Providers. More in using your existing number on the API.

2. Which other channels are in the same product?

Most WhatsApp tools in India add Instagram and web chat. Fewer include email, which matters if WhatsApp is one channel in a customer journey rather than the whole journey: a cart reminder on WhatsApp, then an email, or a fee reminder that falls back to email when WhatsApp isn’t delivered.

3. How does the team inbox handle our team size?

Ask how many users each plan includes, how chats are routed and assigned, whether there’s a mobile app, and what an extra seat costs. Per-user add-ons can matter more than the base plan for a 20-person support team.

4. Can we automate journeys, not just send broadcasts?

Broadcasts are standard. Check for triggered journeys (signup, purchase, payment due, cart abandoned) with delays, branches and exits, and whether the chatbot builder is no-code.

5. Does it connect to our store, CRM and backend?

Check for native integrations with what you run (Shopify, WooCommerce, Zoho, HubSpot, LeadSquared, Salesforce) and a documented API and webhooks for the rest. See WhatsApp CRM integration for Indian teams.

6. How are Meta’s charges billed?

Some providers pass Meta’s rates straight through, some add a per-message markup, and some let you pay Meta directly from your own WhatsApp Business Account. Ask for the per-message rate you’ll actually pay for marketing and utility messages, not just the plan price.

7. What does onboarding involve?

Ask who sets up the WhatsApp Business Account, verifies the number and submits the first templates, and how long it usually takes. Our setup guide explains each step.

8. How easy is it to leave?

Your number and approved templates can move between providers, but contact data, tags and automation usually don’t move by themselves. Ask how you export them. See how to switch WhatsApp providers.

CampaignHQ

CampaignHQ is a Meta Business Partner that runs WhatsApp, email and SMS from one workspace for Indian businesses. It handles WhatsApp Business API onboarding, supports coexistence, and includes broadcasts, a no-code chatbot builder, cross-channel journeys, segments and a shared team inbox with a mobile app. It has native Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento integrations, an open API and webhooks, and you can use your own WhatsApp Business Account billing. It suits teams that want WhatsApp and email in one place; teams that only need WhatsApp may not use the email side.

Gupshup

Gupshup describes itself as a conversational AI platform for marketing, commerce and support, and covers WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, RCS and voice AI agents. It supports coexistence, Shopify and HubSpot, and has a no-code journey builder and a developer API. Self-serve accounts use a prepaid wallet; larger customers sign committed contracts.

WATI

WATI is a Meta Business Partner focused on WhatsApp, with Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, web chat and RCS in the same inbox. It supports coexistence, no-code chatbots, broadcasts, Shopify and major CRMs. Plans include a set number of users, with extra seats as an add-on. Compare it in our WATI alternatives guide.

AiSensy

AiSensy calls itself an official WhatsApp Business Solution Partner and focuses on WhatsApp marketing: broadcasts, a no-code bot, a team inbox and Shopify. It has a free plan, and Meta’s charges come from a separate prepaid balance. Coexistence is in beta and turned on by its team. See AiSensy alternatives.

Interakt

Interakt, owned by Jio Haptik, covers WhatsApp, Instagram, RCS and voice, with a built-in sales CRM, a no-code bot, campaigns, Shopify and coexistence. Its pricing page advertises no template markups only on its Enterprise plan. See Interakt alternatives.

Gallabox

Gallabox is built around sales conversations, with WhatsApp, Instagram, AI voice and web chat, no-code flows, and integrations with Zoho, HubSpot, LeadSquared, Pipedrive and Salesforce. Coexistence is available on request. Meta’s charges are billed as usage, with a markup that varies by plan.

Twilio

Twilio is a developer platform: one API for WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, voice and email, billed pay-as-you-go. It doesn’t present a shared inbox, chatbot builder or Shopify integration on its WhatsApp pages, so your team builds those or adds another tool.

Zoko

Zoko is a Meta Business Partner built for Shopify brands, with catalog sync, a shared inbox, no-code flows and broadcasts. It is WhatsApp-only, with Instagram as a paid add-on.

DoubleTick

DoubleTick focuses on sales teams using WhatsApp at scale, including multiple numbers, groups and calls, with a no-code bot studio and Salesforce support. It doesn’t offer a free trial; you book a demo.

Meta Cloud API, direct

Building on the Cloud API yourself avoids a provider’s fees, but your engineers build and maintain the inbox, campaign tools, template management and reporting. It fits companies that only need to send messages from their own product.

How to shortlist in a week

  1. Write down your must-haves: keep the current number or not, the channels you need besides WhatsApp, your team’s seat count, and the two integrations you can’t live without.
  2. Cut the list to three providers that meet all of them.
  3. Ask each for the per-message rate you’ll pay for marketing and utility messages, and the cost for your seat count.
  4. Run one real journey on each trial or demo account, such as a cart reminder or a payment reminder, end to end.
  5. Check the provider’s Meta status in the partner showcase and ask how you’d export your data if you leave.

If you’re still deciding whether you need the API at all, start with WhatsApp Business app vs API. If you already use a WhatsApp-only tool and are adding email, read when to move from a WhatsApp tool to a retention platform.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best WhatsApp Business API provider in India?

There isn’t one best provider, because they all send through the same Meta platform at the same Meta rates. The best one for you is the provider whose inbox, automation, channels and integrations match how your team works. Mid-size teams running WhatsApp alongside email should favour a provider that has both in one product.

Is a Meta Business Partner better than a Tech Provider?

Not for message delivery, which is the same. The difference is mainly billing: a Solution Partner can invoice you for Meta’s charges, while with a Tech Provider you pay Meta directly. Check any provider’s status in Meta’s partner showcase.

Can I use the WhatsApp Business API without a provider?

Yes. Any business can build on Meta’s Cloud API directly. You then need engineers to build the inbox, campaign tools and automation, so most teams that aren’t building a product use a provider.

Can I switch WhatsApp API providers without losing my number?

Yes. Your phone number and approved templates can move to a new provider. Plan how you’ll export contacts, tags and automations, since those live in the old provider’s software.

Do providers charge extra on top of Meta’s message rates?

Some do and some don’t. Providers either pass Meta’s rates through, add a per-message markup, or let you pay Meta from your own WhatsApp Business Account. Ask each one for the exact per-message rate you’ll pay.
